Begonia amphioxus

£15.00

Begonia amphioxus is a rare species of Begonia from Borneo. Each leaf has bright red spots with a similar colouring to the leaf edges with a shrub-like growth habit. The flowers are green and have an unusual shape. Begonia amphioxus is a rhizomatous species native to Asia (occurring only in two small close limestone outcrops in Sabah, Borneo) where it grows in humid rainforests.

It grows well with moist soil and good humidity. A terrarium is the best place to grow it in the home due to its high humidity requirement. Bright, ambient light with no direct sun is best.

Best grown under florescent or LED lights, with temperatures between 50 to 85 degrees. Allow it to get slightly dry between watering.
